Jayne Pomplas lança novo álbum "This is How The World Ends" com 11 canções sendo o primeiro grande trabalho lançado nesse ano.

Jayne Pomplas releases her new album "This is How The World Ends" with 11 songs, her first major release this year. Previously, she had released several singles that are part of the album. In 2022, she released the album "John Byrne's Disco".
This album is a synthesis of what it means to grow up. These songs and melodies are vignettes of different experiences she has lived through and that have shaped her to this point. The order of the tracks was carefully chosen to highlight the cycle of life. After waking up and thinking she was living a safe life without doing what she wanted, an existential crisis. So the album is about doing something, doing everything. Jayne Pomplas is a violinist, vocalist, and composer, creating original works at the intersection of traditional Irish music, folk, and contemporary experimental sounds.
To begin, there's the first track, "Sweeter Than Honey," with a classic sound, folk aspects, and something reminiscent of 1930s or 40s Broadway, in a unique singing style, bringing a lot of personality to the narrative, often in the first person. With a touch that creates a vibrant tapestry in the composition of elements and their variety, it's very elegant and showcases the quality and concept of the album.
"Hit Single" is the second song, with a more folk style, featuring a rattle in the background, characteristic soft folk touches, and violin in the transitions. It's the kind of track that evokes a sunny and beautiful Sunday, where you want to be in a small town and let that atmosphere envelop you. It's a song rich in detail and that conveys a pleasant and relaxing feeling.
"Farewell To The Corncrack" has a brilliant violin introduction, where we surrender and are carried away, in a more traditional folk style. In an instrumental song, with the guitar played almost in a rhythm separate from the violin, we can hear birdsong in the background arrangement, which makes everything even more beautiful. It's a song that warms the hearts of folk lovers, showcasing the richness of Irish culture and making us travel back in time. Imagine having breakfast amidst nature or sitting by a campfire at night and being able to appreciate the stars with this track? It's fascinating!
"Stars and Stripes" is the fourth song, captivating, gradually building with a touch of basic guitar and another bringing a solo in the background chords, it has discreet beats and leads us into a chorus that we sing along to. The fifth song, "The Lonesome Boatman," has a captivating introduction with violin and guitar that brings something more introspective, darker within the folk. It's a cinematic and instrumental track that makes us embark on an immersion in historical folk; it's as if we're returning to villages in the Middle Ages, and for those who love history and imagine scenarios, it's a sensory opportunity and a completely immersive experience. "Mother Superior" marks a shift in the album; the sixth song features strong beats with overlapping vocals, creating a psychedelic atmosphere with a violin in the background dictating the sound, in an atmosphere that takes us on an ancestral journey. The sound is consistent and has a narrative with conceptual nuance.
"Bending The Curtains" is the seventh song, with a violin marking the introduction, bringing a vibrant and energetic touch, intense, it's an experience that places us inside the album. Beats enter that bring a faster rhythm; it's an instrumental song that ignites from within. Imagine opening a bottle of wine at dusk on a cold day and then this song to make the atmosphere completely immersive?
The album includes memorable songs like "Ninety Nine," which has great elegance in its narrative and sound construction, with harmony between the melodies and vocal arrangement in the background, bringing a more melancholic point, being the tenth song. Among the 11 tracks, we won't talk about all of them to avoid spoilers. It's an album worth every minute, where you disconnect from the modern world, escape into a more retro and traditional folk atmosphere, with a personal narrative that leads to self-reflection, thoughts come and go, and we experience Irish folk in an immersive way.
