Podge Lane lança novo álbum "Ebb And Flow And The Great Unknown" sendo o primeiro grande trabalho lançado nesse ano.

"Ebb And Flow And The Great Unknown" é o quinto álbum do artista irlandês, gravadas em um estúdio improvisado em um antigo galpão de pesca, as músicas que surgiram foram inicialmente concebidas como demos.

"The Sea!"

Podge Lane releases new album "Ebb And Flow And The Great Unknown," his first major release this year. Previously, he had released several singles that are part of the album, and last year he released the EP "Merry & Bright."

"Ebb And Flow And The Great Unknown" is the Irish artist's fifth album. Recorded in an improvised studio in an old fishing shed, the songs that emerged were initially conceived as demos—fleeting recordings of stories that emerged too quickly to be recreated. Lane planned to re-record these demos in the studio later, but chose to preserve the vulnerability of those early performances: just his raspy voice, harmonica, and fingerpicking guitar.

Since his debut album, Outer Monologues (2021), Lane has built a diverse catalog encompassing intimate folk recordings, concept albums, and live performances, culminating in his 2025 release, Less Of Me, a sonic postcard capturing his transition from Ireland to the United States.

To begin, there's the first track, "Rising Tide," which starts with a harmonica sound that makes the song even more beautiful, with that country aspect that warms our hearts. The vocals come in and bring life and soul to the narrative, drawing us into the album and letting ourselves be carried away. With a touch of soft guitar, it's the kind of song where all we can imagine is getting in the car and heading towards an unknown city, living new experiences, lighting a bonfire while the stars shine in the sky. It's a song that makes us appreciate small moments, small details that are unique, the smell of coffee from someone we love. In this beginning, Podge Lane shows a modern folk sound and sounds as if Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan had a child – that would be Podge Lane.

"The Dreggs" is the second song, starting with a touch of harmonica. The guitar sound brings slower, growing chords. The vocals drive the track as he wants, expansive in some parts and retreating in others, with a softer timbre seeking falsettos at the end of the verses. In this song, we feel a lot of authenticity and personality, where Lane gives it her all. It's a song that makes folk lovers close their eyes and want to sing along.

"The Coast" is the third song, with a short acoustic guitar introduction bringing a faster rhythm. The track places us in a narrative vision of our respective lives; metaphorically, we see ourselves on the road, and with each mile we leave behind, we look through the rearview mirror, emotions and feelings passing through our minds. The song has a captivating acoustic guitar touch; the strings are enchanting, and Lane conveys a lot of history through them. It's a track to feel the breeze on our face while a film of our lives plays before our eyes, and we are on the road, continuing to make more history.

The fourth track, "Bleed Out Spot," is more detailed, minimalist, built gradually, with the vocals guiding as if telling a story, bringing us closer in an intimate first part. There's a transition to the chorus, and the song expands further in its minimalist state. It's relaxing, smooth, and captivating in the way Lane expresses herself in her verses.

"God Amongst The Waves" is the fifth track and sounds quite different, moving away from more traditional folk and becoming a bit more pop within the work. The track builds with a faster chord progression; we feel the fingers clearly and intimately moving across the guitar. Suddenly, a transition occurs, all done by the guitar; the track opens up and invites us to sing along. It's a track that disconnects us from everything around us, very well constructed, solid, gradually captivating us, and suddenly we are surrendered and yielded without resistance. The melody is very well crafted, in an instrumental solo that makes our minds travel far away; it's the song that won us over and will certainly be on our personal playlist.

"The Sea!" is the sixth song, bringing something more traditional folk, marked by the harmonica at the beginning. The song has a strong, growing guitar feel. With influences that lead us to American folk, but with a foot in Irish folk, it's a cross-world of two nations that, in folk music, achieve a unique musical exchange, and Lane manages to incorporate this, making the listener feel like they're in the American desert canyons or in the more rural Irish countryside, and that's fascinating, showcasing the album's cinematic side.

"Sea of Crowded Faces" is the eighth and final song. It begins unpretentiously and suddenly builds, taking the listener into a deeper atmosphere. It's the track that will surprise those who are unprepared, in terms of sound. The song's harmonic atmosphere pulls us out of daily chaos, with the touch of harmonica and guitar in the transition, and Podge Lane expresses the narrative in a vocal with a timbre that varies throughout, bringing verses that immerse us in the song.

The album "Ebb And Flow And The Great Unknown" manages to transform the listener's environment, taking us from an urban, desert-like life and transporting us on a journey where American and Irish folk music blend and complement each other, with Podge Lane as the link. We encounter references like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, and Zach Bryan when it comes to modern folk. A great album that showcases Podge Lane's talent and leaves us eager for more music and releases from the artist.
