Heptet lança novo álbum "This Is Fucking Nice" com 12 faixas que vão trazer um mundo fascinante dentro do jazz.
"This Is Fucking Nice" marca o álbum de estreia do Ashley Slater's Heptet e apresenta releituras criativas de composições do próprio Slater, material do Freak Power e covers selecionados, incluindo duas faixas de Paul Simon, sua influência de infância. Gravado no estilo tradicional no Golden Hive Studios em Praga, sem metrônomo ou recursos digitais modernos, o álbum captura seis músicos tocando juntos em tempo real em múltiplas tomadas, posteriormente editadas e finalizadas com overdubs vocais no estúdio de Slater em Chemnitz. Slater descreve o lançamento como "o antídoto para a IA", destacando sua abordagem orgânica e humana à criação musical.
O Ashley Slater's Heptet representa o ápice de uma colaboração visionária entre o aclamado trombonista, vocalista e arranjador Ashley Slater e o organista tcheco Jan Korinek se unem para formar o Heptet.
A faixa "Turn on Tune In Cop Out" tem uma sonoridade fascinante, nos levando em uma noite de verão onde as estrelas estão no céu, a lua iluminando, podemos imaginar estar em jantar com alguém especial, é uma canção que aquece os corações e tem uma atmosfera leve, dançante, com influências brasileira em sua melodia. O jazz aqui tem batidas discretas, som de trombono, versatilidade em seu arranjo, órgão ao fundo e um vocal que tem toda a elegância que precisa para comandar isso.
"Killer Joe Loves Me Like a Rock" nos leva em uma nostalgia que tem a tapeçaria fluida entre o jazz e o blues, onde a gente se entrega nessa harmonia incrível do vocal rasgado, com órgão, trombone e as batidas que ditam o ritmo, criando aquela atmosfera de baile anos 60 para dançar a noite inteira.
"Right Here Right Now" tem um início feito pelo órgão, com toque que tem pausas, as batidas são mais agitadas nessa faixa, com a vocalista trazendo seu brilho para a canção, uma voz delicada mas que em alguns trechos mostra seu poder. Tem influências gospel aqui, como se fosse uma melodia de igreja.
"Can I Sing A Song For You?" possui uma atmosfera romântica, que faz a gente imaginar estar em um ambiente, a luz de velas com uma pessoa especial ao lado, a música traz um ambiente aconchegante que pode esquentar a noite inteira. Em um começo somente com órgão e o vocal, uma harmonia encantadora, logo depois entram batidas bem suaves, a canção é completamente formidável.
"Husband" conquista com uma melodia mais diferente, construída de forma sólida, expansiva com teclas, tem um lado sombrio, com o baixo bem presente que parece ter o ritmo dos nossos corações. O vocal canta e leva conforme quer, a música explora um lado mais lounge aqui com tapeçaria reggae, sem perder a elegância da essência jazz.
"Cellophane" é genial com uma melodia mais brasileira, familiar para gente, batidas agitadas que tem a tapeçaria do samba e bossa nova, é cativante, com uma atmosfera que se transforma no refrão, é acolhedora e cai muito bem nesse clima de copa do mundo, tomando uma cerveja e sentido a força do Brasil na música world.
"Honza's Groove" é a décima faixa, com uma introdução marcante, bateria bem presente, baixo, depois entra trombone e ainda o som de órgão que é imprescindível. A canção aqui tem um groove mágico, surpreendente a cada transição, cheio de vida nos leva a diferentes ambientes. A canção mostra a qualidade deles e na arte da composição pois é uma verdadeira obra, soando de forma atemporal, é agitada e descontraída sem perder a devida elegância.
"One Breath Away" é a décima primeira canção, com um crescimento mais lento, tem uma atmosfera que é guiada levemente e suavemente pela delicada voz da cantora, que harmoniza perfeitamente com a melodia. Os sons distorcidos ao fundo fazem nossa mente flutuar para longe, desconectados de tudo ao redor.
Não vamos falar mais para não dar ainda mais spoiler, o álbum é muito especial pois tem uma tapeçaria elegante, cinemático, tem ainda uma pegada dançante e vintage, o que torna uma obra prima dentro do jazz.

Heptet releases new album "This Is Fucking Nice" with 12 tracks that will bring a fascinating world within jazz.
"This Is Fucking Nice" marks the debut album of Ashley Slater's Heptet and features creative reinterpretations of Slater's own compositions, material from Freak Power, and selected covers, including two tracks by Paul Simon, his childhood influence. Recorded in the traditional style at Golden Hive Studios in Prague, without metronome or modern digital aids, the album captures six musicians playing together in real time in multiple takes, later edited and finalized with vocal overdubs at Slater's studio in Chemnitz. Slater describes the release as "the antidote to AI," highlighting his organic and human approach to musical creation.
Ashley Slater's Heptet represents the culmination of a visionary collaboration between acclaimed trombonist, vocalist, and arranger Ashley Slater and Czech organist Jan Korinek, who joined forces to form the Heptet.
To begin, the first track, "Turn on Tune In Cop Out," has a captivating sound, transporting us to a summer night where the stars are in the sky, the moon is illuminating, and we can imagine being at dinner with someone special. It's a heartwarming song with a light, danceable atmosphere and Brazilian influences in its melody. The jazz here features subtle beats, a trombone sound, a unique arrangement, an organ in the background, and a vocal that has all the necessary characteristics to command it.
"Killer Joe Loves Me Like a Rock" takes us on a nostalgic journey with a fluid tapestry between jazz and blues, where we surrender to the incredible harmony of the raw vocals, organ, trombone, and beats that dictate the rhythm, creating that 60s dance party atmosphere perfect for dancing all night long.
"Right Here Right Now" is the third track, beginning with an organ that pauses, the beats are more upbeat in this track, with the vocalist bringing her brilliance to the song, a delicate voice that in some parts shows its power. There are gospel influences here, as if it were a church melody.
"Can I sing a song for you?" is the fourth track, a romantic atmosphere that makes us imagine being in a candlelit setting with a special person by our side. The music creates a cozy atmosphere that can warm up the whole night. Starting with only organ and vocals, an enchanting harmony, followed by two very smooth beats, the song is completely formidable.
"Husband" is the fifth track, with a more distinct melody, solidly constructed, expansive with keyboards, and a dark side, with a very present bass that seems to have the rhythm of our hearts. The singer's vocals lead as she pleases; the music explores a more lounge-like side here with reggae tapestry, without losing the elegance of its jazz essence.
"Cellophane" is the eighth song, with a more Brazilian melody, familiar to us, with lively beats that have the tapestry of samba and bossa nova. It's captivating, with an atmosphere that transforms in the chorus; it's welcoming and fits very well in this World Cup atmosphere, enjoying a beer and feeling the strength of Brazil in world music.
"Honza's Groove" is the tenth track, with a striking introduction, a very present drum beat, bass, then trombone enters, and the organ sound is imperative. The song here has a magical groove, surprising with each transition, full of life and taking us to different environments. The song showcases their quality and skill in composition, as it's a true masterpiece, sounding timeless, lively, and relaxed without losing its elegant vibrancy.
"One Breath Away" is the eleventh song, with a slower build-up. Its atmosphere is gently and softly guided by the singer's delicate voice, which harmonizes perfectly with the melody. The distorted sounds in the background make our minds drift away, disconnected from everything around us.
We won't say more to avoid further spoilers; the album is very special because it has an elegant, cinematic tapestry, and also a danceable and vintage feel, making it a masterpiece within jazz.
