Butch IV (ou Butch Against The Machine) compôs e gravou "Rebirthing Pains" em uma semana. Cada parte de cada música foi gravada em uma ou duas tomadas para capturar toda a energia da improvisação. O resultado é uma produção lo-fi repleta de emoção espontânea, não de brilhantismo técnico. As músicas surgiram de uma lista de títulos para um álbum imaginário que um amigo havia escrito. Butch transformou o imaginário em realidade. Originalmente lançado em 2017, "Rebirthing Pains" foi relançado por Butch após a excelente recepção de seu álbum mais recente, "Chapter 5: No Hope", de 2025, que, segundo a Metal Eclipse Reviews, "evoca com maestria o vazio existencial da vida moderna".
