Steel & Velvet está de volta agora com seu novo e delicioso EP

Steel & Velvet que recentemente nos trouxe sua linda canção, Orphan's Lament, agora nos traz seiu novo e lindo EP, um disco muito bem trabalho de cover, mas que tem muita personalidade própria, transbordando talento e emoção.

Após o lançamento de seu primeiro EP em 2023 (Waiting for Some Warmth), o Steel & Velvet retorna com uma nova oferta artística, People Just Float, duas obras em uma: um EP de seis faixas e um curta-metragem dirigido por Loïc Moyou.

Seis canções foram cuidadosamente selecionadas para contar a história de Joshua, um homem recluso que vive em uma cabana e encontra uma mulher assustada na floresta. As obras originais foram escritas ou popularizadas por artistas como Robbie Basho, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Pixies, Nirvana, Peter Ivers e David Lynch.

São versões acústicas minimalistas, com um som autêntico e formando um todo coeso. Uma pequena novidade: Jade, filha de Johann Le Roux, canta em duas faixas. Esse trabalho nos faz viajar, nos coloca de cabeça na história e com certeza nos proporciona uma experiência sonora única e emocionante que tem aquele tom intimista, cru e honesto que a gente tanto procura.

A primeira música é Orphan's Lament, linda, cheia de intensidade, com vocais que conseguem trazer toda a emoção da canção e de sua letra, uma música viva que nos emociona e nos arranca arrepios, fizemos um texto todinho dela na semana passada, amamos essa canção.

Ring Of Fire é leve, fresca, uma versão sensacional de um clássico que ganhou nosso coração, essa música ficou inspiradora, linda, alegre e com um tom campestre ainda maior com Steel & Velvet, nós amamos ouvir essa roupagem, é muito legal o violão dessa canção, é divertido e consegue nos trazer a sensação de estar no campo, ela da continuidade a história de Joshua e isso é muito legal, o como Steel & Velvet conseguem trazer uma narrativa muito bem construída através de cada canção cover, simplesmente genial.

A terceira canção é emocionante, traz um clima mais denso ao álbum, nos colocando em reflexão novamente, com um ritmo mais lento, é como estar submerso em poesia folk ritmada, essa música ficou linda, ela nos conquistou, ouvimos diversas vezes, é uma roupagem incrível, que nos fez sentir em um clima quase medieval, simplesmente poderosa e sensacional, nós amamos completamente os arranjos e o como a faixa cresce com o passar dos segundos, linda, brilhante.

A quarta canção traz os vocais feitos pela filha do artista, com certeza herdou os dons musicais do pai, linda voz, que deu doçura, poder e muita magia a música, essa faixa é uma de nossas favorita, nos fez voar, nos emocionou, nos deixou completamente envolvidos, é pura sensação, uma canção que tem personalidade, que brilha, um cover que é magnifico, grandioso, os arranjos instrumentais e vocais nos impressionaram, nos fizeram arrepiar, é simplesmente única.

A última faixa vai ficar como uma surpresa para vocês, ela traz novamente os vocais intensos da artista combinados com o do pai, é muito linda e integra o final dessa narrativa impressionante, nós amamos esse EP, com isso Steel & Velvet ganha nosso coração e para nós já é um dos melhores no folk atual, simplesmente inteligentes e mágicos.

Steel & Velvet, who recently brought us their beautiful song, Orphan's Lament, now bring us their new and beautiful EP, a very well-crafted album of covers, but with a lot of personality of its own, overflowing with talent and emotion.

After the release of their first EP in 2023 (Waiting for Some Warmth), Steel & Velvet returns with a new artistic offering, People Just Float, two works in one: a six-track EP and a short film directed by Loïc Moyou.

Six songs were carefully selected to tell the story of Joshua, a reclusive man who lives in a cabin and finds a frightened woman in the forest. The original works were written or popularized by artists such as Robbie Basho, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Pixies, Nirvana, Peter Ivers and David Lynch.

These are minimalist acoustic versions, with an authentic sound and forming a cohesive whole. A small surprise: Jade, daughter of Johann Le Roux, sings on two tracks. This work takes us on a journey, immerses us in the story, and certainly provides a unique and exciting sonic experience with that intimate, raw, and honest tone we're all looking for.

The first song is Orphan's Lament, beautiful, full of intensity, with vocals that manage to convey all the emotion of the song and its lyrics. It's a vibrant song that moves us and gives us goosebumps. We wrote a whole piece about it last week; we love this song.

Ring Of Fire is light, fresh, a sensational version of a classic that won our hearts. This song is inspiring, beautiful, cheerful, and with an even greater country feel thanks to Steel & Velvet. We love hearing this arrangement; the guitar in this song is really cool, it's fun and manages to give us the feeling of being in the countryside. It continues Joshua's story, and that's really great. How Steel & Velvet manage to create a very well-constructed narrative through each cover song is simply brilliant.

The third song is thrilling, bringing a denser atmosphere to the album, prompting reflection once again. With a slower rhythm, it's like being submerged in rhythmic folk poetry. This song is beautiful; it captivated us. We listened to it several times. It's an incredible arrangement that made us feel almost medieval, simply powerful and sensational. We absolutely loved the arrangements and how the track grows with each passing second—beautiful, brilliant.

The fourth song features vocals by the artist's daughter. She certainly inherited her father's musical gifts. Her beautiful voice gave sweetness, power, and a lot of magic to the song. This track is one of our favorites; it made us fly, moved us, and completely captivated us. It's pure sensation, a song with personality that shines, a magnificent, grandiose cover. The instrumental and vocal arrangements impressed us, gave us goosebumps—it's simply unique.

The last track will be a surprise for you; it once again features the artist's intense vocals combined with her father's. It's very beautiful and completes this impressive narrative. We love this EP; Steel & Velvet has won our hearts and, for us, is already one of the best in current folk music—simply intelligent and magical.
