Sometimes Julie lança novo álbum 'Seven Wishes' sendo o quinto trabalho do tipo lançado por eles. Antes, havia sido lançado o álbum 'Where Are You?' em 2021.
Sometimes Julie, uma das bandas de rock mais envolventes e originais de San Diego, é uma ideia musical da dupla de cantores e compositores Monica Sorenson e Rick Walker. A dupla surgiu pela primeira vez em 2014 com seu premiado CD de estreia de 2014, 'Head First', que foi seguido por Bright Side of the Line (2016), Breaking (2018) e 'Where Are You?' que recebeu uma indicação ao San Diego Music Award de Melhor Álbum de Rock do ano.
Embora não seja um álbum conceitual em si, 'Seven Wishes' revela um tema coeso. Quer seja por amor, cura, liberdade, entusiasmo, sucesso, aceitação ou redenção, cada uma das sete canções é um anseio visceral – um desejo. Sentimentos de desejo avassalador por algo, alcançável ou não, são intensa e universalmente identificáveis e exibidos ao longo do álbum.
Para começar tem a primeira canção 'Wish On the Wild Side' quem tem riffs marcantes de guitarra como em um rock clássico com o country, as batidas são fortes e poderosas, somos levados em um hino que conta com a expressiva voz de Monica, que nos incendeia por dentro em um refrão épico e memorável, eles começam com tudo!
A segunda canção 'Burning To Be Free' é forte, uma faixa que faz a gente quebrar as correntes que nos aprisionam, queimá-las e deixar tudo para trás. Somos contagiados e a canção tem aquelas batidas que nos envolvem bastante com riffs que constroem indo para um refrão que é para motivar e fazer a energia libertadora, a sensação de liberdade correr em nossas veias.
A quarta canção 'Missed The Boat' é vibrante, com uma melodia que nos faz sentir vivos, tem uma pegada pop rock, com acordes de violão e batidas que controlam nossos corações, Monica é maravilhosa e esbanja confiança em sua performance, que tem uma forma de cantar que cativa, seduz o ouvinte pela sua qualidade de deixar a canção fluir. Surpreende ainda o toque de saxofone que traz algo mais jazz para a canção, o refrão é de tirar o folêgo, com certeza uma grande canção desse álbum.
O álbum então segue para a quinta canção 'Don't Take What's Not Yours' um clássico country que nos faz ir aos blues e rock clássico, em uma canção que é forte, uma ordem já no título, em uma performance que é cheia de energia, com um instrumental que é arrebatador, em um solo épico que demonstra o rock and roll em sua essência.
A sexta canção 'Nowhere to Go' é a penúltima faixa, com aquela suavidade do soft rock, com riffs country ao fundo, uma pegada pop, é uma canção leve e gostosa de ouvir, com um clima bem agradável, um conforto em meio as batidas fortes e os riffs contagiantes no refrão ao fundo.
Sem dar spoiler, tem a última canção que é por sua conta, a faixa é para finalizar esse álbum que é maravilhoso, uma sonoridade forte e marcante, não ficando presa ao rock, mas explorando outras vertentes que combinam muito bem. Somos levados para os ambientes sentimentais e emocionais, ao mesmo tempo que viajamos para novos cenários e horizontes, o álbum é uma obra VIBRANTE que Sometimes Julie lança.

Sometimes Julie releases new album 'Seven Wishes', the fifth work of its kind released by them. Previously, the album 'Where Are You?' had been released. in 2021.
Sometimes Julie, one of San Diego's most engaging and original rock bands, is the musical brainchild of singer-songwriter duo Monica Sorenson and Rick Walker. The duo first emerged in 2014 with their award-winning 2014 debut CD 'Head First', which was followed by Bright Side of the Line (2016), Breaking (2018) and 'Where Are You?' which received a San Diego Music Award nomination for Best Rock Album of the year.
While not a concept album per se, 'Seven Wishes' reveals a cohesive theme. Whether it's for love, healing, freedom, excitement, success, acceptance or redemption, each of the seven songs is a visceral longing – a desire. Feelings of overwhelming desire for something, achievable or not, are intensely and universally identifiable and displayed throughout the album.
To begin with, there is the first song 'Wish On the Wild Side' which has striking guitar riffs like classic rock and country, the beats are strong and powerful, we are taken into an anthem that features the expressive voice of Monica, who fires us up inside with an epic and memorable chorus, they start with everything!
The second song 'Burning To Be Free' is strong, a track that makes us break the chains that imprison us, burn them and leave everything behind. We are infected and the song has those beats that involve us a lot with riffs that build up to a chorus that is meant to motivate and make liberating energy, the feeling of freedom run through our veins.
The fourth song 'Missed The Boat' is vibrant, with a melody that makes us feel alive, it has a pop rock feel, with guitar chords and beats that control our hearts, Monica is wonderful and exudes confidence in her performance, which has a A way of singing that captivates, seduces the listener with its quality of letting the song flow. The saxophone touch is also surprising, bringing something more jazzy to the song, the chorus is breathtaking, certainly a great song from this album.
The album then moves on to the fifth song 'Don't Take What's Not Yours' a country classic that takes us to blues and classic rock, in a song that is strong, an order already in the title, in a performance that is full of energy, with an instrumental that is breathtaking, in an epic solo that demonstrates rock and roll in its essence.
The sixth song 'Nowhere to Go' is the penultimate track, with that soft rock softness, with country riffs in the background, a pop feel, it is a light and pleasant song to listen to, with a very pleasant atmosphere, a comfort amidst the strong beats and infectious riffs in the chorus in the background.
Without giving spoilers, there is the last song that is yours, the track is to end this album which is wonderful, a strong and striking sound, not stuck to rock, but exploring other aspects that combine very well. We are taken to sentimental and emotional environments, at the same time as we travel to new scenarios and horizons, the album is a VIBRANT work that Sometimes Julie releases.
