MIA LOUCKS lança o novo álbum "Sisko Sisko Demos" com 9 faixas sendo o primeiro trabalho lançado nesse ano. O álbum representa a volta de Mia Loucks que retorna após 5 anos de lançamento de seu último álbum "Messy Me" lançado em 2019.
Mia escreveu, gravou e mixou 'Sisko Sisko Demos' em um iPhone 4 antigo a qual se refere dessa forma: "Às vezes um pé no saco, mas um meio que me oferece a estética nítida, porém suja, que não consegui alcançar com outras gravações mais tradicionais dispositivos". Não segue estruturas musicais típicas e, em vez disso, procura capturar a atmosfera do ambiente em que está, juntamente com as emoções espontâneas que elas invocam. Muitas dessas faixas (folk/lo-fi rock/alternativo) Mia gravou em carros, aviões, na praia, em banheiras, etc.
Quando ela tinha 20 anos, foi diagnosticada com uma doença rara do tecido conjuntivo chamada esclerose sistêmica, o que a levou a um caminho menos tradicional como músico. Não faz turnês nem se apresenta com frequência e está atualmente no terceiro ano de um programa de doutorado em epidemiologia molecular, tentando encontrar uma cura para esta doença debilitante! Apesar deste foco recente em sua pesquisa, Mia continua a escrever canções como uma forma de processar emoções, conectar-se com outras pessoas e dar sentido a um mundo muitas vezes sem sentido. Embora ela raramente tenha a intenção de escrever sobre qualquer tópico específico, suas músicas geralmente discutem temas de nostalgia, saúde mental e luto (luto por sua fase saudável no passado e processamento pela perda de sua irmã que faleceu quando eram adolescentes). Com toda essa história, podemos agora nos aprofundar em suas faixas no álbum.
Para começar tem a primeira faixa "Body" um folk que nos conquista pela simplicidade do toque de violão que vai nos contagiando por dentro e então nos leva com batidas leves e lentas, criando um ritmo para a canção, que pela sua melodia e sua sonoridade nos faz imaginar estar em uma fogueira ouvindo um folk com pessoas que amamos, em uma canção que é marcada por um vocal introspectivo mas sempre presente e sussurante de Mia.
"Sunshine" é a segunda canção, com uma melodia leve, encantadora, tem uma harmonia perfeita entre a voz delicada de Mia e os acordes de violão super relaxantes. Especial por manter seu ritmo folk bem raíz que aquece nossos corações, em um arranjo bem gostoso de ouvir.
A quinta faixa "Don't Know Why" tem um clima mais crescente, com um toque ao fundo de violão em riffs mais constantes em um ambiente intimista sendo possível ouvir as passagens de acordes, o que é uma delícia poder ficar tão perto assim da música. O vocal de Mia nos leva a uma mescla entre folk e dream pop, em um som que nos faz cantar juntos, em uma letra que nos leva a reflexão daquela pergunta sem resposta que fazemos.
A sexta faixa "Miss California" tem um ambiente mágico, uma tapeçaria transcendental, que mescla dream pop e folk, com um vocal que faz a gente flutuar, em uma canção que poderia ser trilha sonora de algum filme teen românitico/dramático. Com toda a leveza vocal que nos deixa dispersos, soa como um soundscape que tem uma intensidade instrumental ao fundo que eleva o ambiente e nossa energia.
"Sisko" é a sétima canção, um som que nos lembra estar na areia da praia no verão a tarde, um clima tropical que faz a gente olhar para um céu azul e viajar para longe com os sons de onda que são fenomenais. Pode ter uma interpretação ampla, mas é só ali nessa miragem que pude me imaginar com essa melodia bela e contagiante.
Para finalizar, tem a nona canção "Better" que inicia com sons de passáros logo na introdução, latidas de cachorro e então os acordes de violão tomam conta da canção, se alternando. Com efeitos sonoros que nos leva a natureza, é como uma terapia, uma faixa que nos acalma e faz fechar os olhos e mergulhar sem pensar em "Better", com um jogo de vozes e sobreposições das vozes que são maravilhosos. Depois da metade da faixa, o ritmo surpreendentemente muda e então é como se fosse 2 músicas em apenas 1, nos encantando nessa transição.
O álbum é uma obra que mistura o folk e o dream pop, gravado em um Iphone com uma sonoridade suja ou vintage, é algo raro de ouvir, autêntico e profundo, com canção minimalistas, detalhistas, intimistas e marcantes.

MIA LOUCKS releases the new album "Sisko Sisko Demos" with 9 tracks, the first work released this year. The album represents the return of Mia Loucks, who returns 5 years after the release of her last album "Messy Me", released in 2019.
Mia wrote, recorded and mixed 'Sisko Sisko Demos' on an old iPhone 4 which she refers to as: "Sometimes a pain in the ass, but a medium that offers me the crisp yet dirty aesthetic I haven't been able to achieve with other record more traditional devices." It does not follow typical musical structures and instead seeks to capture the atmosphere of the environment it is in, along with the spontaneous emotions they invoke. Many of these tracks (folk/lo-fi rock/alternative) Mia recorded in cars, planes, on the beach, in bathtubs, etc.
When she was 20, she was exposed with a rare connective tissue disease called systemic sclerosis, which led her down a less traditional path as a musician. He doesn't tour or perform often and is currently in the third year of a PhD program in molecular epidemiology, trying to find a cure for this debilitating disease! Despite this recent focus on her research, Mia continues to write songs as a way to process emotions, connect with others, and make sense of an often meaningless world. Although she has reported an intention to write about any specific topic, her songs generally discuss themes of nostalgia, mental health, and grief (mourning her healthy past and processing the loss of her sister who passed away when they were teenagers). With all this history, we can now reveal its tracks on the album.
To begin with, the first track "Body" is a folk song that conquers us with the simplicity of the guitar playing that infects us from the inside and then takes us with light and slow beats, creating a rhythm for the song, which through its melody and sound makes us imagine being at a campfire listening to folk music with people we love, in a song that is marked by an introspective but always present and whispering vocal from Mia.
"Sunshine" is the second song, with a light, charming melody, it has a perfect harmony between Mia's delicate voice and the super relaxing guitar chords. Special for maintaining its very rootsy folk rhythm that warms our hearts, in an arrangement that is very pleasant to listen to.
The fifth track "Don't Know Why" has a more growing atmosphere, with a background guitar playing in more constant riffs in an intimate environment and it is possible to hear the chord passages, which is a delight to be able to be so close to the sound. music. Mia's vocals take us to a mix between folk and dream pop, in a sound that makes us sing together, in lyrics that make us reflect on that unanswered question we ask.
The sixth track "Miss California" has a magical atmosphere, a transcendental tapestry, which mixes dream pop and folk, with a vocal that makes us float, in a song that could be the soundtrack to some romantic/dramatic teen film. With all the vocal lightness that leaves us scattered, it sounds like a soundscape that has an instrumental intensity in the background that elevates the environment and our energy.
"Sisko" is the seventh song, a sound that reminds us of being on the beach sand in the summer afternoon, a tropical climate that makes us look at a blue sky and travel far away with the wave sounds that are phenomenal. It may have a broad interpretation, but it was only there in this mirage that I could imagine myself with this beautiful and contagious melody.
To finish, there is the ninth song "Better" which starts with bird sounds in the introduction, dog barks and then the guitar chords take over the song, alternating. With sound effects that take us to nature, it's like therapy, a track that calms us down and makes us close our eyes and immerse ourselves without thinking in "Better", with a game of voices and overlapping voices that are wonderful. After halfway through the track, the rhythm surprisingly changes and then it's like 2 songs in just 1, enchanting us in this transition.
The album is a work that mixes folk and dream pop, recorded on an iPhone with a dirty or vintage sound, it is something rare to hear, authentic and deep, with minimalist, detailed, intimate and striking songs.
